Towards a congestion-free Netherlands with BACH

As part of the BACH project (Brainport Approach for a Congestion-free Holland), the campus of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is being transformed into an intelligent, integrated energy system that combines electricity, heat, storage, and innovative energy technologies. Together with Technolution, Zympler is developing and validating the energy management system that orchestrates these assets.

A new approach to grid congestion

How can we create an energy system that is not only smarter, but also more flexible and scalable? That is exactly the question at the heart of the MOOI project BACH (Brainport Approach for a Congestion-free Holland).

As part of this project, the campus of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is being transformed into an intelligent, integrated energy system in which multiple energy carriers, storage technologies, and infrastructures come together. The project builds on previous initiatives, including GENIUS, in which the TU/e campus was developed into one large, flexibly controlled energy hub.

One intelligent system, countless assets

BACH takes this concept a step further. In addition to electrical assets, the project includes thermal energy storage, an electrolyser, stationary and mobile battery systems, and innovative technologies for energy storage and conversion. All of these components must work together seamlessly within a stable and intelligent energy system.

Within the project, Zympler and Technolution are collaborating on the development and validation of the energy management system that orchestrates this complex environment.
