Key challenges

Fragmented systems without overarching coordination

The customer was dealing with multiple systems, each optimizing for its own objective. A trader managing the battery without an FMS, and an EMS monitoring the grid connection. No one had oversight of the complete system.

Guaranteeing charging sessions without an FMS or TMS

There was no compatible Fleet Management System or Transport Management System available. Yet vehicles still needed to be charged reliably and on time, with different priorities assigned to each charger and vehicle.

Extracting maximum value from the battery

The customer wanted to benefit from favorable electricity prices and ERE trading, without compromising operations. The battery had to be used intelligently while ensuring charging reliability was never at risk.

Monitoring grid connection capacity

The hard limit. The grid connection is never exceeded, regardless of what else is happening. This prevents penalties, grid issues, and unexpected peaks.

Guaranteeing charging sessions

Vehicles are charged within the required timeframes. Not every vehicle has the same priority, so Zympler allows priorities to be configured per charger or vehicle group. Vehicles with earlier departure times automatically receive priority.

Only once priorities 1 and 2 are met is the remaining flexibility used to reduce energy costs: buying energy at favorable dynamic tariffs, intelligently charging and discharging the battery, and trading on the ERE market.
